2002 Forum: ITS OUR WATERSHED TOO!

The 2002 forum was held in Blue Hill, Maine on November 7, 2002.

Taking the Pulse of the Gulf of Maine

Who's leading the way?

The Global Programme of Action Coalition for the Gulf of Maine (GPAC).GPAC is a bi-national working group of 40 individuals from public agencies, private organizations, the research community and others. Formed in 1996, GPAC is one of two North American projects to implement the objectives of the United Nations' Global Program of Action to protect the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities. The objectives include reduction of impacts of land use practices on marine environments.

What is GPAC doing?

GPAC is initiating a series of local watershed forums to promote sharing of information and a connection to the larger Gulf of Maine Watershed.

Are Young People Involved?

A special forum was held Nov. 7th for students who have been working on watershed issues in their communities. Student Ambassadors were chosen to represent the youth of Hancock County at the Regional GPAC Watershed Forum: Common Water-Common Ground on Nov. 8th.
