2005 Forum: George Dorr's Legacy:
Acting Today to Sustain the Future

This year has been chosen by Acadia National Park to celebrate George Dorr's life and his contributions to generations of people on Mount Desert Island. In the 1920's, Dorr was a MDI community member who devoted his life to work to preserve the land and water of MDI to be enjoyed by generations to come. His efforts resulted in the formation of Acadia National Park and the protection of Jordan Pond and Eagle Lake.

The 2005 Youth Watershed Forum focused on giving young people the tools and support to work within their communities to help protect the health of our watersheds. The forum brought young people who are doing meaningful work in their watersheds together to share their findings and experiences. The forum hosted activities that built upon students' experiences and facilitated working together to effect positive change and create solutions.
